Lane Kiffin’s Sunday was probably better.
The 48-year-old Ole Miss football coach, whose NCAA tournament berth was partially destroyed in Alabama’s win over No. 12 seed Grand Canyon, watched as his girlfriend Sally Lilac rubbed salt into the wound. The weekend ended.
Kiffin originally predicted a showdown between No. 4 Alabama and Grand Canyon in the Round of 32, and posted an X photo of his bracket showing the Antelopes advancing to the Sweet 16 to face top-seeded North Carolina. He was proudly showing it off.
“Grand Canyon baby!!” Kiffin shouted to her followers on Sunday.
Unfortunately for Kiffin, Grand Canyon lost 72-61 to Alabama in a March Madness thriller, with Reichlak sarcastically blaming college football coaches.
“What a jinx,” she posted on X on Sunday.
Alabama will play the University of North Carolina on Thursday.
Kiffin at least has one previous school to fall back on.
When user X asks “Where are you going to Tennessee?” Kiffin replied“Final 4”.
The second-ranked University of Tennessee narrowly missed the round of 32 with a 62-58 victory over the seventh-seeded University of Texas.
The Volantes next face No. 3 Creighton on Friday.
Kiffin coached at Tennessee in 2009, but left controversially for the University of Southern California after going 7-6 in his only season.
If Kiffin’s bracket takes another hit this week, it remains to be seen whether Reichluck will be on hand for a potential chirp.
According to Ryclak’s X page, the couple has been dating since at least February 2023, and Kiffin and Post a rare photo of the pair During the summer, in honor of National Girlfriend Day.
Kiffin and his wife Leila announced their divorce in 2016.
They co-parent three children, daughters Landry and Presley, and son Knox.
