Las Vegas Aces make WNBA history after selling out season tickets in back-to-back seasons

There has been a lot of talk about the WNBA's growth this season, and much of it has been attributed to rookies, led by Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. But it's the team's Without it The Las Vegas Aces are the team with the highest draft pick in 2024 and have made history by selling out season tickets for two consecutive years.

The Aces announced on Thursday that they have sold out all of their 2025 season-ticket memberships, becoming the first team in WNBA history to do so two years in a row. This isn't the first time Aces fans have made history: In June, they became the first team in the league to sell out all of their regular-season home games in a single season.

Las Vegas has a clear advantage when it comes to these kinds of ticket sales records, considering they play in smaller arenas than other WNBA teams. Michelob Ultra Arena has a capacity of 12,000, while arenas that also host NBA teams, such as Barclays Center, Crypto.com and Gainbridge Fieldhouse, have a maximum capacity of 20,000, making them more difficult to sell out.

Still, Las Vegas has drawn the third-highest attendance in the league this season, averaging 11,381 per night, behind only the Indiana Fever (17,009) and New York Liberty (12,646).

Like the rest of the league, Las Vegas will increase the price of season tickets next season, with the average ticket price rising from $30.78 this year to $43.95 next season. The biggest increase will be for the most expensive seats, with courtside tickets going from $500 to $600 per game. From the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The team announced that 92% of season ticket holders for the 2024 season have renewed their memberships, with the remaining 8% being individuals on the waiting list.

The sold-out event reflects the growing popularity of the WNBA as a whole and the Aces' extraordinary success. Las Vegas has won the past two WNBA championships and, although they have struggled this season, still ranks fourth overall and has six Olympians on its roster. They also benefit from having A'ja Wilson as their main player, who has been one of the most dominant players in the league this season.

Wilson praised the league's growth in an interview with SB Nation last week.

“People are putting their money and investing in us, not just their mouths,” Wilson said. “And I think that's great. It's real people, real investors, real people that want us to grow. They're putting their money and not just their mouths.”
