The last full-sized Kmart store in the United States will close for good on October 20th.
WJAR reported Sunday that employees Confirmed The store in Bridgehampton, New York will close on the same day.
Currently, there are only two Kmart stores in the United States, one in Bridgehampton and one smaller store in Miami, Florida.
“Kmart, under the management of hedge fund CEO Eddie Lampert, has been gradually closing stores over the years since merging with Sears in 2005. Sears Holdings, the parent company of both Kmart and Sears, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2018,” the report said.

All 371 of its 99 Cents Only stores began closing in April, Breitbart News reported, after company executives said the decision was “difficult” due to “inflationary pressures” and other factors.
“The mass closings came shortly after Dollar Tree announced it plans to close about 1,000 stores following 'poor' business decisions and an 'unexpected fourth-quarter loss,'” Breitbart News reported.
“The stores to be closed include approximately 970 Family Dollar stores that Dollar Tree acquired in 2015, as well as 30 Dollar Tree stores that will follow over the next few years,” the article concluded.
