LOWEL, Massachusetts – Hillary Knight scored her first career hat trick, with Ehlin Frankel making 38 saves and the Boston Fleet completing the New York Siren season sweep in a 5-2 victory on Wednesday night.
Knight scored the third goal in under 10 seconds to get the empty net, with Boston (7-5-3-6, 34 points) assisting, finishing second ahead of Toronto.
Six of the fleet's victories came against New York. This includes two shootouts with Knights scoring five goals and seven assists added.
Alina Muller had goals and two assists, Susanna Tapani had the ninth goal for assists in the third term, and Shay Maloney had two assists.
Frankel, who matched the season best for the save, is netting in all six wins in New York, 32-11, 32-11, outperforming 9-8.
The siren in the final place (4-3-4-10, 22 points) won't win in nine games. Elizabeth Gigyale's opening goal was his first goal on a skid.
Muller tied the game with a sixth goal in his first period.
The Knight scored on a power play and breakaway with a 3-1 Boston lead.
The Knight has 21 points, including 11 goals.
New York rookie Salafirier scored the eighth goal in the power play and moved to a league-leading tie with 22 points to cut the deficit to 3-2 into the third term.
