Late-night stars team up but still fail to take a jab at Trump

The Wall is Closed!

Late-night hosts like Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and Seth Meyers are stepping up in ways traditional media can’t quite manage.

“The Tonight Show” has long been the benchmark for late-night TV, boasting impressive quality and ratings. And, well, it’s making another go of it.

Just kidding.

The highly competitive hosts have been known to interview and poke fun at each other, with group appearances turning into a way to critique a certain, shall we say, controversial figure. Take a look at their latest banter.

“I mean, the guy’s son; you know what I’m saying?” Kimmel remarked about Trump.

Colbert chimed in, adding, “Son of Mr. Whatever.”

“Honestly, we never thought we’d have a president like this. Let’s hope we don’t see that happen again,” Kimmel expressed.

Mark Twain would probably find this current form of political humor a bit shocking…

Future Stars

But who says the past holds all the magic?

Upcoming film “Pillion” will feature Alexander Skarsgård as a gay character in a relationship with a timid lover played by Harry Melling.

Based on Adam Mars-Jones’ 2020 novel “Box Hill,” this UK rom-com is set to debut in February. In it, Skarsgård’s character introduces his partner to an interesting queer biker community.

It seems to be a fresh take on themes that some might find a bit nostalgic.

End of an Era?

Good times don’t last forever, right?

This weekend, “Saturday Night Live” will awaken from its annual break with a brand-new episode. The first guest isn’t exactly awe-inspiring; it’s a certain celebrity set to perform at next year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Who knows what’s in store during his monologue?

In the past, “SNL” often walked a fine line between humor and taste. These days, it feels more like one-sided satire. Think back to how Kate McKinnon expressed her feelings about Hillary Clinton’s loss in 2016. If that’s rock bottom, how low can it go?

And Kimmel’s cameo? It’s there, but notable Democratic figures seem to stay off the radar.

It’s not a wild prediction; it feels more like a sad reality. “South Park,” once an edgy option, has shifted towards outright activism, while “SNL” risks losing its relevance. Maybe it’s time for a little bipartisan action.

Las Vegas odds suggest a shift…

A Struggle for Ratings

Jimmy Fallon seems to be lagging behind.

Taking over “The Tonight Show” from Jay Leno in 2014, he’s gradually pushed the franchise into a ratings slump.

Now, his show sits in third place behind CBS’s “The Late Show” and ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” If it airs before “Gutfeld,” it could be considered fourth.

“The Tonight Show” used to be the pinnacle in late-night entertainment, so what’s going on?

For starters, Fallon’s style is a softer version of Colbert and Kimmel, leaning left but not aggressively. This might turn off some viewers who prefer a more straightforward approach.

Interestingly, he insists on finding a balance. However, do we remember when he poked fun at Biden’s gaffes?

That’s a bit hard to swallow…

Intriguing Insights

A surprising story this week? Joe Rogan praised Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth for addressing military changes.

This commentary didn’t include flashy personalities from mainstream media. Hegseth is apparently trying to set straight some military issues that got sidetracked previously.

“We’re done with identity politics,” Rogan stated passionately. “Our focus should be readiness and being the best military we can be.”

But has he paid attention to past actions taken under the previous administration? It seems some patterns remake themselves.

Exciting Release Ahead

Feeling impatient for Quentin Tarantino’s next film? There’s a solution.

His classic “Kill Bill” is finally getting a release with a new cut titled “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair” landing in theaters on December 5th. This version promises previously unseen scenes, enhancing the original epic.

Tarantino initially envisioned it as a single film but had to split it up due to its length. And while those fight scenes are legendary, sitting through over four hours could be quite a feat.

Just trying to imagine the popcorn bucket that comes with it!
