“We are a player-first organization and investing in health and wellness has always been a priority for us,” said Liberty Gov. Clara U Tsai. “New York's freedom deserves their own facilities. It reflects their incredible talent, work ethic and ambition. The facility is a sign of our commitment to the advancement of teams, New York City and women's sports.”
Liberty's announcement puts pressure on Connecticut Sun and other franchises
Jones, who won the MVP Finals MVP with his team last year, praised freedom for his continued investment in the franchise.
“One of the main things that drew me to the New York Liberty organization is the level of investment we have as athletes,” she said. “We have just won the championship and we look forward to them as they level up and strengthen our game. Our owning groups and leadership continue to raise the bar, and this facility is a perfect example of that.
Jones' comments reminds us that Liberty's announcement will put pressure on other franchises to follow suits. 2021 MVP was previously in the Connecticut Sun, but in 2023 he demanded trade and was sent to freedom.
Today the sun is one of the only things WNBA The reality is that teams without practice facilities or official plans are mourning former star players like Alyssa Thomas. meanwhile President Jen Rizzotti All franchises have expressed her confidence that by 2028 they have their own facilities, the reality is that Connecticut is still practicing Mohegan Community and Government Centreoften stripped when other events occur.

“It's normal at this point. That means Mohegans have to do better,” Thomas told the next hoop after the team had to share their practice facilities with birthday parties during the postseason. “We're a professional team. We're competing for the playoffs. Yeah, you need to share your court with your two-year-old.[s] Birthday party. [It’s] Ultimate rudeness… we need more, we need better to compete at the highest level. ”
As the franchise is looking to hire free agents, what amenities are offered will definitely be a factor. With their elaborate announcements, Liberty has helped set new standards that other franchises have to compete for.
