Latest Seattle Storm trade brings in another impactful WNBA veteran

Los Angeles Sparks Guard Lexi Brown is traded with Seattle Storm. Both teams announced on Friday. Storm has won Brown and Sparks' third round draft picks in exchange for Storm's second round picks in 2025 and 2027. List. Sparks recently traded for All-Star Guard Kelsey Plum, who is likely to host a show in Los Angeles.

What Lexi Brown brings to Seattle

30-year-old Lexi Brown WNBA Veterans have been unable to maintain their health over the past few seasons as they are dealing with Crohn's disease. However, she currently dominates the competition at athlete Unlimited, a professional offseason women's basketball, and appears to be heading for men next year.

At her best, Brown is an excellent elite shooter at both ends of the courthouse. In 2023, she shot 41.5% from three in 5.4 attempts per game.

“Lexy is a prolific shooter and all-rounder who strengthens our backcourt,” Storm general manager Talisa Leah said in an official press release. “Her tenacity playing on both sides of the ball and her ability to develop defense in an incredible range are a huge addition to our roster and we are excited to welcome her to Seattle.”

Last season, Brown averaged 8.1 points, 3.3 assists per game in 23.7 minutes per night. However, her season was limited by her fight against Crohn's disease, allowing her to play in just 16 games. Overall, in his three seasons as a Spark, Brown averaged 9.2 points, 2.6 assists and 41.6% off the field.

Brown will become the latest veteran guard to join the Seattle roster

Seattle is in winning mode, and this move further strengthens it. The storm has Eji Magbegaard and Skylar Diggins Smith under contract heading into the offseason, and veteran forwards Nuneka Ogumike and Gabby Williams re-signed.

Last week they signed veteran guard Erica Wheeler. Erica Wheeler is a former All-Star who played limited minutes last year with fever. Arashi also added Center Lee Yul (and the second pick in the 2025 draft) via Jewel Lloyd Trade, signing former sixth player of the year Alisha Clark in free agency. Unfortunately for Seattle, they lost two bench players in ACL tears: Jordan Horston and Nica Moore. Wheeler (33), Clark (37) and Brown (30) all have countless WNBA experiences, and at their best, all three can put the floor in the space.

With Diggins-Smith, Williams, Ogwumike and Magbegor building headlines, Storm should be able to compete with anyone.

And while Lexie Brown hasn't played long minutes in recent years, she has been working on how deep the athlete's bag is, and how much of an impact on the game at both ends when she's healthy. It is demonstrated.
