Lauren Southern Accuses Andrew Tate of Assault in Memoir
Right-wing figure Lauren Southern has accused Andrew Tate of raping her during a trip to Romania, sharing her account in an excerpt from her memoir published on Tuesday.
Southern traveled to Romania in 2018, intending to discuss media projects with Tate and some associates. After a frustrating initial meeting, she says she was unexpectedly called to meet Tate’s group again.
She claimed that during transit to the car, she felt disoriented and ill, even though she hadn’t consumed alcohol at the nightclub. She mentioned feeling confused and ultimately vomiting.
“My ultimate hope in the publication of these chapters, and in the full book, is for healing,” Southern wrote. “I’ve come to realize that true healing often arises from confronting painful experiences.”
Reflecting on her moment in Romania, she recounted being a naive 22-year-old who believed she could navigate difficult situations by making good choices. It took her years to process what she claims happened.
She described how situations threatened to escalate, with her feeling pressured to go out when her instinct told her to leave instead. At the nightclub, despite not being heavily intoxicated, she felt increasingly out of control, and members of Tate’s group boasted about various illegal activities.
Southern later reported the assault to British authorities but was dissuaded due to fears over police corruption in Romania, where the incident occurred. She mentioned feeling cautious for years but is now ready to support ongoing investigations.
In her memoir, she also critiqued the media environment that prioritizes fame and money over the truth, expressing concern over the way victims are often disregarded. She emphasized that others may be misled, and she hopes by speaking out, that real issues regarding such behaviors are addressed.
In 2023, Tate and his brother were charged with human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group, which Southern claims aligns with the patterns she observed during her experience.
