Rep. Mike Lawler (RN.Y.) touted his party's performance in the 2024 election cycle and blamed Vice President Harris' loss in the presidential race on the Biden-Harris administration.
In an interview on NewsNation's “The Hill Sunday,” Lawler pushed back against suggestions that President-elect Trump's significant advantage over Harris would not play out similarly in the down-ballot race.
“If you look at a district like mine, four years ago Joe Biden won by 10 points, and once all the votes were counted, Donald Trump won my district, or just a little bit. There's a very good chance it won't arrive. This is a huge movement nationally,” Lawler told Chris Stilwalt.
Lawler said the success of Trump's Republican Party “all boils down to one thing: the problem.”
Lawler said people are frustrated by what he called the economic, immigration and international “crises that have exploded under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”
“And this is not just because, you know, Kamala Harris has not been able to introduce herself to the American people for 107 days,” Lawler said, adding that her supporters are trying to explain her defeat. Mentioned general explanations to cite.
“She is the sitting Vice President of the United States. That argument is wrong. It boils down to the failure of the current administration to address the challenges facing the American people. And the American people have spoken out loud and clear. We talked about it,” Lawler said.
