Lawsuit Aims to Prevent Trump from Ending 'Temporary' Amnesty Tied to Soros

Legal Challenge Against Trump’s DHS Immigration Policy

George and Alex Soros’ network of left-leaning non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is associated with a lawsuit aimed at halting the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) decision to terminate a temporary advocacy program benefiting many U.S. immigrants.

This week, DHS Secretary Christi Noem announced the cessation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for immigrants from Honduras and Nicaragua. Just last month, she made a similar decision regarding TPS for immigrants from Nepal.

Initially designed to be a temporary measure during the Clinton administration, TPS has effectively become a long-term amnesty program. Each president since then has routinely expanded or designated new countries for TPS status.

According to reports, immigrants are now suing DHS to block the termination of TPS for Honduras, Nicaragua, and Nepal. This legal action is being supported by various NGOs, including the National Day Laborer Organizing Network and the Haitian Bridge Alliance.

Funding for these NGOs has been substantial, with millions from Soros’ Open Society Foundations provided to them. For instance, between 2016 and 2022, they received approximately $460,000 in 2019 alone, with further amounts awarded in subsequent years.

As for the Haitian Bridge Alliance, it reportedly received $550,000 in funding from the Open Society Foundation in both 2020 and 2021.

In their lawsuits, the plaintiffs accuse Trump and Noem of racism, alleging that their decisions disproportionately affect immigrants from non-white and non-European nations.

The lawsuit claims, “It’s becoming increasingly normalized, but the fact remains that Secretary Noem, President Trump, and members of the Trump campaign and administration are consistently using racist invocations to explain TPS decisions involving immigrants from non-white and non-European countries.”

The Soros-funded network of NGOs has primarily driven numerous lawsuits against the Trump administration, targeting efforts to enforce federal immigration laws, end birthright citizenship, and crack down on immigrant child trafficking.
