JPMorgan Chase Class Action Litigation Summary:
- Who: The plaintiff, John Sacki, has filed a class action lawsuit against JPMorgan Chase Bank NA and JPMorgan Chase & Co.
- Why: Sacki alleges that the bank induced consumers into purchasing credit card memberships and making designated purchases using their credit cards.
- Where: This class action lawsuit was filed in federal court in New York.
A recent class action lawsuit claims that JPMorgan Chase misled consumers into buying credit card memberships and making specific purchases with the company’s credit cards.
On September 12th, plaintiff John Sacki presented his case in the Federal Court for New York, arguing that the bank violated consumer laws at both the state and federal levels.
The lawsuit states that JPMorgan Chase allegedly enticed consumers into purchasing credit card memberships by assuring them of automatic credits for certain transactions but failed to deliver on that promise.
The plaintiffs contend that this practice reflects a broader scheme by the bank to get consumers to pay for credit card memberships and then deny them the promised credits.
Failure to Deliver Promised Credits
Sacki claims he purchased a one-year credit card membership from JPMorgan Chase in the summer of 2025 for $750.
The company promised automatic credits for purchases made at selected restaurants and online music platforms.
However, Sacki asserts that JPMorgan Chase did not refund the promised credits, leaving him to cover those costs in his credit card bill to avoid interest or other penalties.
The lawsuit highlights JPMorgan Chase’s alleged pattern of fraudulent behavior, citing complaints from other consumers as well as previous lawsuits against the bank.
Sacki seeks to represent others who have incurred fees related to JPMorgan Chase’s credit cards in the U.S.
The plaintiffs are pursuing class action status, damages, and legal costs.
In 2024, there was also a lawsuit filed by JPMorgan Chase employees alleging violations of labor law, including failure to provide necessary meal and break times.
