The lawsuit filed Monday alleges that the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) blames at least some of the damages in the Palisade fire due to the power line that allegedly caused the second flame during the event.
Orange County Register Report:
The new lawsuit denies some of the devastating palace fires (the worst in Los Angeles history) for fallen power lines from wooden poles surrounded by hurricane winds.
The lawsuit, filed Monday by lawyer Alexander Robertson, alleges that the Los Angeles Water and Electric Power Department has tried for months to cover up the harm caused by the collapsed line. LADWP tells the Washington Post a few days after the fire began on Jan. 7 that the line was not energized at the time of the flames and that it has not been that way for the past five years.
However, the agency said it was actually active at the time of the flames, in a written statement to Robertson's law firm, which was overturned by a written statement to Robertson's law firm on March 20. The lawsuit alleges that LADWP attributed the original statement to “misunderstanding.”
The lawsuit, led by Alex “Trey” Robertson, specializes in litigation on behalf of wildfire victims.
The Etonfire, which broke out on the same day, is widely suspected to have been caused by Socal Edison's power generation, which snapped and sparked by strong winds. Los Angeles County has already sued the company for the fire.
The LADWP was obstructed by having a nearly empty reservoir with a capacity of 117 million gallons above the Palisade.
The exact cause of the Palisade fire has not yet been determined. The U.S. Alcohol Service, cigarettes, firearms and explosives (ATFs) are still under investigation. Breitbart News contacted the ATF to comment further on the issue.
