She made good on the tip.

On Tuesday, Lay’s launched a new chip flavor that emerged from a staggering number of entries in its yearly $1 million competition.

The winning flavor, bacon grilled cheese, was crafted by Paula George from Oklahoma and triumphed over more than 70,000 other entries in the “Do Us a Flavor” contest.

“Paula George from Suplepa, Oklahoma, created a delicious, nostalgic tribute that brings together two of my favorites: bacon and grilled cheese!” the snack brand stated.

George’s flavor was inspired by her late father’s recipe for bacon grilled cheese, with hopes that it would evoke similar cherished memories of his delightful meals, enjoyed alongside Ray’s potato chips.

During the voting phase for the April-June contest, fans chose from three finalists. The two runners-up suggested flavors of Valentina and lime, and wavy Korean-style fried chicken.

While they didn’t snag the grand prize, each will be awarded $500,000, and their flavors will also make a limited-time appearance in stores.

George expressed her honor in winning, stating, “Seeing Ray’s bacon grilled cheese-flavored potato chips was a dream come true. I’m filled with joy and gratitude, knowing that, like me, thousands of Ray fans across the country have tasted and loved it.”

The annual contest has been running since 2012, featuring a quirky assortment of winners over the years, such as cheesy garlic bread and southern biscuits and gravy. Some past favorites even make comeback appearances during the contest period.

Interestingly, in October, Balenciaga released an $1,800 handbag resembling a giant Lay’s potato chip bag.

On a different note, some people have the chance to explore their creativity without solely focusing on prizes. Last year, for instance, Madison City in Wisconsin conducted a contest that intrigued its 3,000 residents, who voted for the name “Rosie the Rubbisher.”
