The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Monday that it had killed Hassan Khakashar, a leading Hamas terrorist based in Syria who allegedly fired rockets from Syria into Israel.
The IDF said in a statement:
Today (Monday), the IDF eliminated Hassan Khakashar in Beit Zin, Syria. He was the person responsible for Hamas firing rockets into Israel from Syrian territory in recent weeks. Since the start of the war, Khakashar has commanded the Hamas terrorist organization and fired rockets from Syria into Israeli territory.
We will not allow terrorism from Syrian territory and will hold Syria accountable for all activities emanating from Syrian territory. The Israel Defense Forces will continue to act against all threats posed to the State of Israel.
IDF Spokesman, Maj. Gen. Daniel Hagari Said Monday evening:
Today we eliminated Hassan Akasha in Beit Yan, Syria. He was a key figure in recent weeks responsible for Hamas firing rockets from Syrian territory into Israeli internal theaters.
We continue our operations against Hamas leadership, and today we also targeted a series of Hezbollah targets across southern Lebanon, including military facilities belonging to the organization. They responded with fire in areas where firing was confirmed towards Israeli territory. As we have stated since the beginning of the war, we will not tolerate threats near our northern borders. We say so, and we mean it.
…
In the central Gaza Strip, IDF forces are concentrating on fighting in the central camp area of Albrai. There, they discovered Hamas's main underground weapons manufacturing facility 30 meters underground. The factory produced parts for long-range rockets, mortar bombs, and UAVs. It is built along the Tanchar axis, also known as the Salah al-Din road, and is used by humanitarian aid trucks heading north from Rafah. Hamas has built underground and above-ground terror manufacturing facilities in civilian factory spaces along the humanitarian corridor. We have discovered, dismantled, and are currently destroying these facilities embedded in civilian areas.
Israel has been targeted by rockets from Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Hezbollah and Hamas in Lebanon. Hamas in Syria. and the Houthis in Yemen. All of these groups are funded and armed by the Iranian regime in Tehran, nearly 1,000 miles away.
