Leading Oversight Democrat: "We must maintain the pressure" on Epstein documents

Representative Robert Garcia from California, a prominent Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, is urging lawmakers to push for the release of what are known as the Jeffrey Epstein Files, despite the White House’s attempts to limit the discussions around it.

“Donald Trump is included in Epstein’s files. We know that,” Garcia asserted during an interview with MSNBC on Friday. “It’s time for the full truth to emerge.”

He mentioned that, while he cannot compel the Board of Supervisors to take action without some bipartisan support, he had previously committed to investigate Attorney General Pam Bondy and other officials linked to Trump.

In response to the issue, President Trump instructed the Justice Department to seek the release of testimony from the Great Ju Court. Later that same day, the department moved to have the transcript sealed in federal court.

“I requested the Department of Justice to make public the great juice testimony about Jeffrey Epstein, which has only been permitted by the court,” Trump stated on True Social Saturday. “Even if the court gives it full approval, there will always be troublemakers and radical leftists making demands.”

“It’s never enough,” he added, making a reference to ongoing media scrutiny.

Garcia also pointed out a House discharge petition that was shared among officials during his Friday appearance. Representatives Thomas Massey (R-KY) and Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) are pushing for a vote to release information connected to Epstein, a now-deceased convicted sex offender.

The proposal currently has the backing of at least ten Republicans, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and progressives like Khanna and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.).

While Garcia hasn’t officially joined the petition, he has called on the Trump administration to release related files.

If this petition receives majority support, it could skip the usual committee process and demand a floor vote, Garcia noted.

“We’ll find out how serious the Republicans are about actually releasing these files,” he commented.

Additionally, Garcia criticized Fox News for allegedly misrepresenting Trump’s statements about the Epstein Files during an interview last summer.
