Leaked Texts from Democratic Senator Make Him Seem Very Impressive

Leaked texts often aim to enhance one’s reputation, but sometimes they have the opposite effect.

Take Democratic Arizona Senator Ruben Gallego, for instance. A series of texts shared by Human Events reveals his candid thoughts about his party.

Gallego rightly notes the Democratic Party’s “zero tolerance” policy. He mentions that “men look like men,” and “women look like women.”

He goes on to express a sentiment that the party has shifted significantly: “We used to embody the essence of fun—sex and rock and roll.”

There’s a hint of criticism in his observation: “Democratic women resemble Democratic men, and Democratic men mimic women.”

To be fair, his only misstep seems to be a few spelling errors.

One text exchange began with an unnamed Republican asking Gallego about the need for a “level-headed leader” at the party’s forefront.

Gallego’s retort was a bit cheeky: “Oh, have you met my party? I’ve been shouting at them this entire time.”

It’s true—calmness isn’t typically synonymous with the Democratic Party, which often struggles with its image regarding lawfulness and the follow-through on promises.

Later, a correspondent sent Gallego a photo of Democratic Connecticut Rep. Rosa DeLauro, captioned, “If erectile dysfunction had a face.”

Gallego humorously acknowledged the jab, saying, “They’re not wrong!”

At 82, DeLauro is known for her distinctive purple short haircut.

Gallego continued reflecting on voters’ perceptions: “We seem like a no-fun party now. It’s all about correcting everyone and keeping a straight face.”

These days, the spirit of “sex, drugs, and rock and roll” feels worlds away from the current Democratic stance. Gallego makes a valid point: The left has historically attracted younger crowds with its countercultural vibes, but now it feels more mainstream. If someone wants to stand out, they might think twice about getting a tattoo or using delivery apps.

In response to the leak, Gallego spoke with ABC15’s Ben Brown, expressing disappointment over the actions of someone he considered a close friend.

“It’s heartbreaking that someone I’ve known for years would leak these messages. However, I’ve been clear about my vision for the party—it should be inclusive and welcoming. This is simply a reflection of my consistent views.”

Interestingly, he didn’t offer an apology. But if Gallego wants to soften the party’s image, perhaps embracing harmless humor would be a good start.
