Leaked Video Purports to Show Scottie Scheffler’s Conversation with Police Officer Following Arrest

A video is going viral that purportedly shows a conversation between golfer Scottie Scheffler and a police officer shortly after he got into an altercation with another officer outside Valhalla Country Club about two weeks ago.

In the video, Scheffler can be heard trying to explain to the officer that he mistook the officer who told him to stop for a security guard — an explanation that didn’t make sense to the officer questioning him.

“Stop right there,” the officer retorted. “Someone is telling you to stop, so what does it matter if it’s a security guard or a police officer?”

The officer then details why Scheffler should have known the person speaking to him was a police officer or a person of authority, and describes the injuries sustained by the officer who told him to stop.

A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday. Scheffler’s lawyer, Steve Romines, who will appear at the hearing, said Tuesday that his client has no intention of settling.

“Tuesday’s Romines Repeated Scheffler told CNN he was open to either dropping the charges or going to trial without a plea deal. The Louisville lawyer would not say whether a settlement had been reached or whether he would drop the charges on Wednesday. He is scheduled to hold a news conference just 30 minutes after the court hearing begins.
