Brian Kelly founded "Point Guy" to assist people in maximizing their credit card points and travel miles. His goal? To enhance the travel experience for everyone.
In a recent interview, Kelly expressed, "I really want to help folks travel better using points and miles." The Point Guy website offers travelers a range of tips and insights, not just about air travel but all aspects of traveling, making it a comprehensive resource.
His journey into travel and points started in the 1990s, rooted in family experiences. With a father whose job required frequent flights from Philadelphia to LA, young Kelly learned early on the value of frequent flyer miles. At 12, he was challenged to grasp how to utilize these miles, promising his family a trip to the Cayman Islands, inspired by a book he read.
Kelly eventually launched Point Guy in 2010 as an expansive blog, garnering a team from around the globe. His practical experience with points during his college years helped him understand how to enjoy first-class travel even on a limited budget. “We focus a lot on points and credit cards, but we also cover other travel options like cruises and theme parks,” he noted.
In addition to the blog, Kelly authored a book titled How to Win With Travel, aiming to address various travel anxieties and questions that many have. Reflecting on the 15 years since he started Point Guy, he remarked, “We’ve assisted millions in navigating this system, yet many still feel overwhelmed. The sheer volume of information online and on social media can make it hard to find clarity.”
Kelly emphasized that the goal goes beyond merely playing the points game; it’s also about empowering yourself for financial success.
