College football legends are leaving the game.
ESPN said on Thursday that Lee Corso, the longtime network analyst and face of the group. College Gamma Diesresigns after the final show on Saturday, August 30th.
For many, Corso was the face of sports. His tradition of wearing headgear to close every week has become something of a college soccer lore, lit up social media around noon in all Eastern college football on Saturday.
But on the horizon on the last ride, where should it be done?
Old Dominion in Indiana
It may not be the best matchup on the schedule, but with Corso Gameday Heading to Indiana makes a lot of sense.
Part of Corso’s origin story, and his role College Gamma Diesit belongs to “Coach”. Coach Corso actually spends his life around college games for decades.
His coaching career included many stops, including a stint as a head coach at Louisville, but he coached future ESPN colleague Tom Jackson and led the Cardinals to the second bowl game in school history, but his longest stretch came in Indiana.
Corso coached the Hoosiers for 10 seasons, winning Indiana with an 8-4 record and a Holiday Bowl during the 1979 campaign.
Old Dominion against Indiana may not be the biggest matchup on the Slate of the week, but that’s the case when Corso returns home in the end.
Alabama, Florida
Before he became Kosocon, he was a player.
