The left has long portrayed the right as cruel and lacking in empathy, but since the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, it’s clear that this is how they’ve always portrayed themselves.
Even before Trump literally dodged a bullet, there were countless calls from celebrities, politicians and mainstream media commentators for him to step down.
“When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?” Johnny Depp roared into the microphone, while veteran Broadway actress Carole Cook once asked the camera, “Where’s John Wilkes Booth when you need him?”
Of course, there’s also the famous footage of Madonna telling the crowd that she’s “thought about blowing up the White House” and, burned into all of our minds, the horrifying image of Kathie Lee Gifford holding Trump’s severed head.
During a recent podcast with Glenn Lawrie, author and New York Times contributor John McWhorter jumped on the Trump-hating bandwagon and made some comments he’ll probably regret.
“I’ve taken a lot of flak for saying or even implying that I hope someone kills Donald Trump, which is exactly what I implied,” he told Rowley. “It was irresponsible of me to say something like that in public.”
Pat Gray, Keith Marinak and Jeffy from “Pat Gray Unleashed” are terrified by it all.
“It’s like, ‘Hello, New York Times, is this person still working there?'” Marinak says nervously.
Bennie Thompson, a former chairman of the January 6th Committee, waited until after the assassination attempt to go after Trump.
He had his staff post messages on social media saying, “We do not condone violence, but we would like you to take shooting lessons so that you don’t screw up next time. Oh, that’s not what I was saying.”
“He already released her. By the way,” Marinak said, “Benny Thompson tried to strip Trump of his security.”
