Left-Leaning CNN Panelists Assert Seriously That Attacking TdA Boat Was a 'War Crime'

Debate Surrounds Ship Strike and Labeling of Venezuelan Group

On Tuesday, panelists from the left, including Democratic Congressional hopefuls and former officials from the Clinton administration, referred to the recent destruction of a ship associated with Venezuela’s Tren de Lagua (TDA) as a “war crime.” This follows President Trump’s announcement of a military strike on September 2nd that targeted a vessel carrying eleven members of the TDA. Caroline Downey, a writer for National Review, mentioned that the operation aimed to curb drug trafficking entering the United States.

During the discussion, one panelist asserted, “This is a war crime. If they can target a random boat in the Caribbean, what would they do to us? There’s no evidence to justify it.” Another contributor expressed confusion over the classification of the individuals on the ship, questioning how such actions could be seen as appropriate.

Vice President JD Vance and Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky had a notable disagreement regarding the validity of the strike. Paul criticized Vance for his positive remarks about the operation, arguing there was no proof that civilians weren’t killed in the attack. A former civil servant from the Clinton administration, Kekin, emphasized that it should not be within the president’s power to decide on life and death without clear evidence.

Navarro chimed in, raising concerns about Trump’s policies on Venezuela, specifically referencing the ending of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for many Venezuelans living in the U.S. He expressed disbelief that the U.S. would deny these individuals the status when they were fleeing the Maduro regime. The debate became further heated as conflicting opinions on the TDA’s designation as a terrorist group emerged.

On another note, Trump had previously issued executive orders identifying various groups, including the TDA and Mexican drug cartels, as foreign terrorist organizations. Vance then issued a stern warning to the cartels, threatening severe consequences for their actions, hinting at increased military operations in Puerto Rico aimed at tackling cartel activities.
