Leicestershire end Will Pucovski deal after another concussion | Cricket

Leicestershire have terminated their contract with Will Pucovski after the Australian batsman suffered another concussion. The 26-year-old was due to play for the Foxes in the first five rounds of the County Championship, but instead focused on recovering from a helmet blow he suffered during Victoria’s Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania earlier this month. I plan to. Pucovski was previously seen as a strong Test candidate for Australia, but suffered repeated concussions during his career.

Leicestershire director of cricket Claude Henderson said: “We are very disappointed to lose Will at this stage, but his health has to come first.” Given that the start of England’s season is near, all parties have agreed to give Will the time he needs to recover, and we wish him well as he continues his recuperation in Australia.

“Our recruiting team is aware of the changing situation and has plans in place to ensure our team is as strong as possible heading into the season.”

Meanwhile, Darren Gough has resigned from his role as managing director of cricket at Yorkshire University. The former England fast bowler was appointed in December 2021 following racism allegations that rocked the sporting world. Goff said: “It has been a true privilege to work for my boyhood club over the past two seasons.

“We came in at a very difficult time and have worked hard to steady the ship, develop our cricket department and ensure we return to the top level of English cricket.”

Yorkshire said they would take time to consider the best structure for the club before appointing a replacement.
