For Brookrose, the journey of the Knicks this season is still unfolding, despite the tough playoff exit.
After the Knicks’ defeat to the Pacers in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Leon Rose’s daughter shared a nostalgic Instagram video showcasing various highlights from the postseason.
“This chapter may be over, but the story goes beyond being proud of this team. It’s really special,” she added in her Sunday post. “🔒. Forever.”
The video captured a lively celebration at Madison Square Garden, marking the Knicks’ first conference final appearance since 2000, where they faced off against the Pistons and Celtics.
The Knicks kicked off their series against the Pacers at home, but an intense Game 1 ended with Indiana snatching a 138-135 overtime win.
After falling into a two-game deficit, the Knicks managed to bounce back in Game 3, claiming their first win of the Best Seven Series with a score of 106-100.
Despite losing Game 4, they regrouped for a dominant 111-94 victory at home in Game 5. However, they struggled in the second half of Game 6, concluding their season with a 125-108 loss.
“We had solid defense, but we stretched ourselves too thin,” said coach Tom Thibodeau. “If you really look into it, was it our defense or our mistakes? Probably a bit of both.”
While he plans to take some time to process the loss, Knicks captain Jalen Branson emphasized the confidence of the team, particularly with new additions like Carl Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges.
“There’s no doubt about this group’s confidence,” Branson stated. “We’ve got a lot of guys eager to put in the work and improve. I appreciate my teammates and all their efforts.”
The team, feeling the weight of local sports reactions after the disappointing end to their season, had been revamped with key trades—arriving in New York after a significant trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Bridges reunited with fellow Villanova alumni Hart and Branson in June 2024, following a trade with the Nets, an idea that Brookrose had suggested on social media at the time.
