Leonard Williams of the Seahawks gains attention for tongue wagging

Seahawks Enjoy Victory Against Commanders

The Seattle Seahawks celebrated a solid 38-14 win on the road against the Washington Commanders last Sunday night.

Leonard Williams, a defensive lineman for the Seahawks, played a notable role in this success. He recorded five tackles, which included a sack, and also managed to hit the QB during the game. Williams has recently caught the attention of fans with his lively antics on the sidelines.

During a broadcast of “Sunday Night Football,” viewers were treated to moments of Williams joking around with teammates and playfully waving his tongue, adding a touch of humor to the game.

In a post-match interview, he reflected on his playful behavior, saying, “Mike was teasing me about it. He mentioned he had a slow-motion clip of me. Oh, that’s kind of wild. Honestly, I think it might turn into a meme.” It’s funny how these moments can take on a life of their own, right?

As for his performance this season, Williams has achieved four sacks and a total of 35 tackles. He’s now in his third year with the Seahawks, having joined from the New York Giants in 2023, after a previous stint with the New York Jets.

This latest game has reminded many Seahawks fans of the team’s dominant defense during the early 2010s, famously known as the Legion of Boom, which wreaked havoc on offenses across the league.

So far this season, the Seahawks’ defense ranks fifth in points allowed and eleventh in yards allowed. Last year, they finished with a 10-7 record but unfortunately missed the playoffs in the highly competitive NFC West.

At the moment, Seattle is positioned ahead of the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West standings. If the season were to end today, they would secure the third playoff seed based on head-to-head winning percentage.
