Trump Attends National College Football Championship
President Donald Trump has made his way to the 2026 National College Football Championship at Hard Rock Stadium. Upon arrival, he was seen on the broadcast during the Pledge of Allegiance, standing alongside his daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner. Four of his grandchildren were also present, with his granddaughter Kai, a future University of Miami student, drawing particular attention.
The president, accompanied by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, is attending the anticipated matchup between the University of Miami Hurricanes and the highly regarded Indiana University Hoosiers. It’s expected to be a competitive game.
Prior to the championship, Trump offered congratulations to both teams in a White House statement, mentioning, “May the best team win!” His connection to the University of Miami is noteworthy; his granddaughter, Kai, signed on to compete for the university’s women’s golf team in August 2024.
The statement from the White House characterized the championship game as “a climactic conclusion” for a season marked by dedication and hard work, emphasizing that college football is a “beloved and uniquely American tradition.”
“For more than 150 years, college football has been a cherished fixture in American culture,” it noted, reflecting on the sport’s long history and its ability to unite generations of fans.
In the statement, Trump and First Lady Melania congratulated both teams on reaching the championship, extending blessings to the athletes, coaches, families, and loyal fans. “May the best team win!” they concluded.
This isn’t Trump’s first college football game as president; he has previously attended the Army-Navy games and several College Football Playoff events. This marks his third appearance at a national championship game.
