I hate Sweeney

Around four decades ago, Brook Shields starred in a Calvin Klein commercial, asking, “Do you know what’s going on between me and Calvin? Is there nothing?”

But what’s the deal with Sydney Sweeney and those American Eagle jeans ads? It stirred quite the reaction among some folks online.

Canadian fellow nods

There’s really no reason for Israel to fret over Canada recognizing a Palestinian state.

The necessary conditions for such recognition—like holding free elections and giving up weapons—never seem to materialize.

Unfair fares

The MTA’s plan to bump subway and bus fares to $3 isn’t exactly a big deal, according to the board.

But, honestly, if everyone actually paid their fares, maybe there wouldn’t be a need for a hike. Instead, average folks will feel the pinch while those breaking the rules just carry on as usual.

And what happened to those congestion prices meant to help commuters? That idea seems lost. Governor Hochul really needs to step up her game. It’s tough for New Yorkers to bear the burden of her choices.

We need to wake up, voters—living in a one-party system isn’t doing us any favors. It might be time to explore other options; repeating the same actions over and over can’t be the answer.

Philip Barone

Osing.

The dangers of homelessness

President Trump seems to be on the right path when discussing the need to clear public spaces of those struggling with mental health and addiction.

Business owners certainly shouldn’t have to deal with trash in their entrances or worry about health hazards like needles. I once witnessed a tragic scene on the subway stairs that was just heartbreaking.

It’s concerning; commuters shouldn’t have to face such realities daily. These individuals need care, a place to be properly treated.

Bragg’s education

It’s a relief that Scotty Enoe was acquitted after facing manslaughter charges for defending CVS staff against violent acts.

Manhattan’s DA Alvin Bragg should reconsider his career path—perhaps he’d be better off organizing shelves at CVS instead of racking up losses in court.

Maybe that way he’d gain some insight on how to truly protect law-abiding citizens amidst the ongoing struggles with crime.

Donathan Sarcarn

Fake “Protection”

The title “Protection Agency” attached to the Environmental Protection Agency seems ironic at this point.

It’s hard to believe that President Trump genuinely cares about the impending challenges of climate change.

The proposed rollback in emission standards reveals that the agency mainly serves corporate interests rather than truly protecting the environment.

Bob Ollie

Chicago, sick.
