Before Kamala Harris announced Tim Waltz as her running mate, most Americans had no idea who he was.
The decision came as a shock to many, as Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro seemed like the logical choice, as he would have improved her chances of winning in battleground states and perhaps even attracted the support of moderate Democrats.

“When you think about the sickest parts of our culture, this guy is a leader,” he said, listing “unrestricted abortion on demand,” “tampons in men's bathrooms” and “Islamism” as some of Walz's biggest red flags.
Levin said Walz's support for Islamism was a key factor in Harris' selection of him over Shapiro, who is Jewish and does not enjoy the support of “the pro-Hamas wing of the party.”
“[Walz] I was hugged [Ilhan] “Omar” is one of the most openly Hamas supporters in the government.
He also donated “$100,000 of taxpayer money” to Mullah Asad Zaman, executive director of the Muslim American Association of Minnesota, and called him a “great teacher,” even though Zaman praised the October 7 Hamas attack and shared a documentary praising Adolf Hitler on Facebook.
Walz is a perfect example of an “enemy within,” Levin said.
