Hamilton’s Excitement for His First Home Race as a Ferrari Driver
Lewis Hamilton is gearing up for his inaugural home race in Italy as a Ferrari driver, and the anticipation is palpable. This week marks the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at the renowned Imola Circuit, officially known as Autodromo Intagione Enzo e Dino Ferrari. The significance of this event is immense for both Ferrari and Hamilton.
In the lead-up to this milestone, Hamilton and his team shared a video on social media, where he expressed his hopes and expectations. “I truly feel the love, passion, and desire from everyone associated with Ferrari—something I’ve never encountered before,” he noted.
He continued, “Coming to Italy as a Ferrari driver, I’m filled with both nerves and excitement. Being here, in my team’s home country, makes me eager for what’s to come.” Hamilton expressed gratitude for being welcomed into the team and emphasized his commitment to delivering the results they deserve.
So far, Hamilton’s season with Ferrari has been a mixed bag. He celebrated the team’s first victory in the Formula 1 sprint race at the Chinese Grand Prix and achieved another podium finish at the Miami Grand Prix in a sprint race. However, his top result in a Grand Prix was a fifth-place finish in Bahrain. Following an eighth-place finish in Miami, he seemed frustrated on the radio, but later explained to the media how optimistic he feels about the team’s potential.
“I had a decent day,” Hamilton remarked post-Miami GP. “An eighth-place finish doesn’t really showcase that, but I’m looking forward.” He added that he believes the car has good performance, despite feeling something is holding the team back since the race in China.
“We need to find a solution for that, and until then, we’re focused on refining everything else. I actually felt more positive about my weekend,” he shared, referencing a recent third-place finish in the F1 Sprint race.
Hamilton also touched on his competitive spirit, saying he still has “that fire” inside him. “I’m not going to apologize for being a fighter. We all want this, and once we address some of the problems with our cars, I know we’ll be in the mix with Mercedes and Red Bull,” he stated, emphasizing the urgency to improve—and that he looks forward to the next race.
As Hamilton considers his prospects, one question lingers: will his first podium finish come in this highly anticipated home race with Ferrari?
