F1 history book.
Today marks Lewis Hamilton's first day as Ferrari driver. It was the day the tifosi had been waiting for since last year's surprising announcement that the living legend would be leaving Mercedes for the Scuderia at the end of the 2024 F1 season. 2025 campaign.
Hamilton met with Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur and CEO Benedetto Vigna outside Enzo Ferrari's iconic office with its white walls, red door and red shutters.
Hamilton dressed appropriately for the occasion and posed for photos in front of his Ferrari F40. He posted about the day on social media, describing it as a “dream” come true.
“There are some days that will stay in my memory forever and today, my first day as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days. I accomplished something I never expected, but a part of me has always dreamed of racing in a red dress, and I couldn't be happier to make that dream come true today. No,” Hamilton wrote.
“Today, we mark a new era in the history of this iconic team, and I can't wait to see what story we write together.”
The 2025 F1 season will begin in earnest next month with pre-season testing in Bahrain. The first race of the season, and Hamilton's first race with Ferrari, is the Australian Grand Prix, scheduled for March 16th.
