Leighton Orient and Stockport ended their League One playoff semi-final first leg in a dramatic 2-2 draw, with Charlie Kelman making headlines by scoring both the first and last goals of the match.
Kelman’s opener came in the 30th minute, though it was clear he was offside. He likely thought the ball had been played by Stockport’s defenders rather than Omar Beckles.
Stockport equalized an hour into the game with a penalty taken by Oliver Norwood, which was awarded for a handball by Larmani Edmonds Green. There was some dispute, as Edmonds Green had lifted his arm while being held by Fraser Horsefall. Shortly after, Norwood and Horsefall combined effectively, with Norwood’s free kick met by Horsefall’s header to give Stockport the lead.
Despite finishing third in the league, Stockport seemed poised to take a winning advantage back to Edgeley Park for the second leg on Wednesday. However, Orient earned a penalty of their own when Horsefall was deemed to have an unnatural arm position after Ollie O’Neill’s shot struck him. Kelman didn’t hesitate and scored the equalizer.
