Badlands Nightclub owner TJ Bruce said he has considered banning all political attire, but has decided that he has only decided to ban anything related to the Trump election. He added that the decision was made after a customer in MAGA dressed in the business caused “discomfort”;
“It's about ensuring that the Badlands are a space that our community feels comfortable and supported.”
“If you move forward, you won't be allowed to wear Magazine at the venue,” Bruce said. statement on the bar's social media account. “This decision is not to ban political beliefs, it is to ensure that the Badlands are a space where our community feels comfortable and supported.”
The man spoke to KCRA-TV and after putting on a Maga hat on the bar, he said he believed he was the cause of the ban.
“I've never worn a gay bar in a red card hat before. “We were hanging out for drinks and it was a fun time. So I was really impressed. And I praised the security for the good work they did.”
He says the ban was announced on social media soon.
“That was a surprise to me because going out at night was fine,” Bourasa added.
Others around Lavender Heights supported the ban.
“Given the current political situation and what's going on, and how the administration has been acting towards certain groups, especially the LGBTQ community, you can understand why they made that decision,” Alice Malberg told KCRA.
