Liberty take Adja Kane with last pick of 2025 WNBA Draft

The WNBA Draft was a long night waiting for freedom.

But when the draft was almost over, general manager Jonathan Kolb chose a player he believed would be a good future prospect with freedom.

Liberty chose French centre Aggia Kane in the final selection of this year’s draft on Monday.

A No. 38 overall pick, Kane is a 6-foot-3 skilled center, and Liberty can draft and hide and continue to play professionally in France while she develops.

“As an organization, we take pride in embracing the global nature of the game and are actively working to frame a deep international talent group,” General Manager Jonathan Kolb said in a statement. “Tonight we had a unique opportunity to choose Adja Kane, a talented young player from France’s strong program.

The 20-year-old Kane is currently playing for the Rander Noble Tagne Basket at the Lover Langel Wonder Rig in France, averaging 4.9 points, 4 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 assists in 22 games this season.

She previously represented France in the 2024 FIBA U20 women’s eurobasket.

Liberty traded the Connecticut Sun for the seventh overall pick for Natasha Cloud last month. This is a move that makes sense given that New York is in victory mode.
