BLiev Schreiber (56), a California native, studied at the Yale School of Drama and made his Broadway debut in 1993. He won a Tony Award in 2005 for his role in Glengarry Glen Ross and was nominated this year for his performance in Doubt: A Parable. His filmography includes three Scream series, The Manchurian Candidate, The Painted Veil, Spotlight, and Golda. He played the lead role in Ray Donovan, which ran for seven seasons from 2013. He also appears in Netflix's The Perfect Couple. He lives in New York City with his wife and daughter. He has two older children with actress Naomi Watts.

What trait do you most dislike about yourself?
anger.

What trait do you dislike most in others?
hypocrisy.

What was your most embarrassing moment?
When I was 19, I was working in a gay bar whilst going to drama school in London. One of the guys I was working with was from Glasgow and I learned the dialect from him. My acting teacher at school said, 'Reeve, you understand the area but you don't understand the character at all', because I was playing Jimmy Boyle with a very heavy Glaswegian accent.

Aside from real estate, what is the most expensive thing you have ever purchased?
education.

What makes you unhappy?
Laziness.

If you could bring an extinct thing back to life, what would you choose?
My grandfather. I grew up in New York City with a single mother. She was a cab driver, we lived in the ghetto, and life was hard, but my grandfather was my refuge. He was my safe haven, my rock, and the man who inspired my life.

What scares you about getting older?
Leaving family.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
Elevator operator.

What's the worst thing someone has ever said to you?
“Not interested” Who are you? There are many.

What is your guilty pleasure?
fame.

Who would you most like to apologize to and why?
I think my father was skeptical of our closeness.

What does love feel like?
all.

What words or phrases do you overuse the most?
“Where are my glasses?”

What is the worst job you've ever had?
The acting is also excellent though.

What has been your biggest disappointment?
I thought I was supposed to be smarter by now.

When was the last time you cried and why?
Watch the Olympics.

When was the last time you changed your mind about something important?
This morning we talked about better ways to talk to our kids.

What is the closest you've ever come to death?
This was a car accident that happened about 35 or 40 years ago in British Columbia. We were going too fast on a dirt road, we lost control of the car, it went off a cliff and got stuck in the top of a tree. We weren't hurt at all, we just got out of the car.

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
My children.
