Linda Hamilton Embraces Aging with Confidence
Linda Hamilton is embracing herself, fully. At 69, she’s best known for her role as Sarah Connor alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in “The Terminator.” Recently, she discussed aging and the pressures of Hollywood beauty standards in a conversation with AARP.
“I’ve never put effort into looking younger,” she mentioned, revealing that chasing beauty isn’t something she feels compelled to do.
Hamilton added, “I’ve completely surrendered to the fact that this is the face I’ve earned. And honestly, it’s been a learning experience.” This acceptance speaks volumes about her perspective on life.
Having made her mark in 1991’s “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” Hamilton has now joined the cast of “Stranger Things” as Dr. Kay. She has also shared this healthy mindset with her 32-year-old daughter, Josephine, whom she shares with ex-husband James Cameron. Hamilton recalls that when Josephine was only six, she found her mother beautiful, as her “face was full of joy.”
“That moment has shaped my definition of beauty. I’m now focusing on joy,” Hamilton reflected.
A Golden Globe and Emmy nominee, she strives for a healthy lifestyle but doesn’t impose strict rules on herself. “I’m not rigid. It’s a great approach to aging,” she remarked. “I’ve always believed that fixed thinking can limit us. I aim to be fluid in how I navigate life.”
Movement is a priority for her, particularly after enduring injuries from performing her own stunts in “The Terminator.” While preparing for her role in “Stranger Things,” Hamilton committed to a workout routine that included three sessions a week, tailored to her needs.
“I incorporated Pilates, yoga, free weights—everything I could think of. I enjoyed it. Rather than sticking to specific muscle days, I focused on what I needed to stretch and loosen up each day,” she explained.
