Sen. Lindsey Graham (R.S.C.) posted on social media that the Department of Homeland Security had announced that Laken Riley’s murder suspect was illegally paroled into the U.S. because the central processing center in El Paso, Texas, was on lockdown. It was confirmed on social media.
Jose Ibarra, an illegal Venezuelan immigrant, was charged with Riley’s murder. The 22-year-old Augusta University School of Nursing student died on February 22 while jogging at the University of Georgia in Athens.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) previously told Fox News Digital that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) encountered Mr. Ybarra on September 8, 2022, and that he was “released on parole for further processing.” He was released.”

“DHS just confirmed to me that the man charged with the murder of Laken Riley was illegally paroled into the United States ‘due to detention capacity at a central processing center in El Paso, Texas,'” Graham said. He posted on X on Tuesday. “He was denied parole on grounds of great benefit to the country and on the grounds of humanitarian necessity as determined by law.”
Graham also accused the Biden administration of breaking the law at the expense of innocent Americans.

The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for additional information about the allegations.
ICE previously reported that Ybarra was arrested by the New York City Police Department on September 14, 2023, one year after being released from parole, and “charged with conduct with injury to a child under 17 years of age and motor vehicle license violation.” said. Riley was found dead in February after attending UGA before enrolling in the nursing program at Augusta’s Athens campus, where she was on the dean’s list.

Police charged Ybarra with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, interfering with a 911 call and concealing the death of another person.
