Darline Graham Nordone has been appointed as the interim senator following the death of her brother, Lindsey Graham.
During a press conference at the State House, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster announced that he has selected Graham’s sister to fill the vacancy.
Lindsey Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, expressed her commitment, stating, “I promise to work hard over the next several months to support the president and carry forward the efforts of my brother on behalf of the citizens of South Carolina.”
Governor McMaster commented on Graham’s legacy, remarking, “Lindsey Graham recognized the seriousness of his work, but also the value of humor and a lighthearted spirit.”
This news follows President Donald Trump’s recommendation to Governor McMaster, suggesting Darline as a perfect choice for the interim position.
Trump shared on Truth Social, “I recommended, to Governor Henry McMaster, Lindsey Graham’s wonderful sister, Darline, to serve as interim Senator from the Great State of South Carolina. This would be a fabulous tribute to Lindsey, who loved her dearly!”
Darline will complete her brother’s term, which is set to end in January 2027.
Lindsey Graham passed away unexpectedly at 71 years old due to an aortic dissection related to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
