Lindsay Von returned to the podium for the first time since leaving his retirement late last year.
The American ski star finished second in Super-G in the World Cup final in Sun Valley, Idaho on Sunday, finishing 1.29 seconds behind No. 1 finish Lalagut Bellami, who won the Super-G season title.
Bonn has returned from retirement to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
“Today meant everything to me,” Bon said. NBC Sports tells me. “This is the road to Cortina next year.”
Vonn, an 82-time World Cup winner and 2010 Olympic Downhill champion, broke the record for the oldest women's World Cup podium finisher at 40.
Austrian Alexandra Maisnitzer defeated previous records set for nearly 34 years and nine months.
This race was probably the last World Cup race she competed in American soil.
“The higher the pressure, the better I usually get,” Bonn said. “It's the last race of the season. I just put it all on the line. This is the level I know I can ski, I even know I can do better than that.
Before Sunday, Bonn's best finish since she returned was a mid-January Super G finish in sixth and fourth on the downhill.
Vonn admitted that there was time up and down after she returned to the slope, and that Americans “it's difficult to stay positive.”
“When you love something and work hard on something, when you finally get rewarded, it really feels good,” Bonn said. “It was a joy. It was a relief. I was pleased with the fact that this adventure I set myself up was worth something.”
