Lindsey Vonn’s Sister Shares Support After Olympics Injuries

Karin Kildow, Lindsey Vonn’s sister, is now on a long road to recovery after undergoing four surgeries post-Olympics. She recently expressed her deep admiration for her sister, who is a star on the USA national team.

“Every day she gets so much stronger,” Kildow mentioned during an interview at Los Angeles International Airport. “We’ve gone through a lot, including surgeries. We’re bringing her back to the U.S.” She added, “She’s incredibly strong. It’s just one day at a time.”

Kildow acknowledged that it’s been a “tough time” caring for Lindsey, as what was anticipated to be a final shot at Olympic glory transformed into an injury-riddled experience.

The troubles began just weeks before the Olympics when Vonn tore her anterior cruciate ligament, casting doubt on her ability to compete in what she had declared would be her last event.

Despite the challenges, Vonn decided to go ahead with her plans.

She crashed just seconds into her downhill race at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy on February 8, suffering significant injuries including a fractured tibia, requiring her to be airlifted from the scene.

Following that, Vonn had four surgeries overseas to address her injuries, and on Monday night, she tweeted that she had finally returned to the U.S.

“I haven’t been on my feet in over a week… I’ve been stuck in a hospital bed since the race. I can’t stand up yet, but it feels amazing to be back home ❤️🇺🇸 #imhome #BeLv,” she shared.

“Thank you so much to everyone in Italy for taking care of me🙏🏻”

Vonn also shared a video made by Kildow that showcased family and friends visiting her while she was hospitalized.

Kildow had previously posted a collage on Instagram, highlighting some humorous moments from their time in the hospital.

“I can’t fully express the emotional rollercoaster of this week, but it gave me perspective. Whether things end in a good way or a bad one, we ultimately find ourselves in a similar place—surrounded by loved ones, and life continues. Despite what life throws our way, we find ways to laugh, cry, and celebrate,” Kildow reflected.

“I genuinely believe every event has its purpose. While it might not be clear at first, there will always be a silver lining. Thanks to everyone for your amazing support, both publicly and privately. I’m incredibly proud of you, @lindseyvonn… We’re here for you, no matter what ❤️
