LinkedIn co-founder asks Harris to replace FTC's Lina Khan

Reid Hoffman, the billionaire co-founder of LinkedIn and Democratic donor, is calling on Vice President Kamala Harris to replace the chairman of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) if elected president in November.

Hoffman suggested that FTC Chair Lina Khan, who has led the Biden administration’s aggressive antitrust push, was acting “outside the scope of her job” and argued that she was “not serving America well.”

“I expect Vice President Harris to take her place,” Hoffman said. CNNHe added, “Antitrust laws are fine, but starting a war is not.”

The LinkedIn co-founder quickly endorsed Harris’ presidential bid on Sunday after President Biden announced he was stepping down to support his vice president.

“Kamala Harris is perfectly suited to the job,” Hoffman wrote in a post on X, adding that “I wholeheartedly support Kamala Harris and her candidacy for president of the United States as we fight for democracy in November.”

Hoffman has been a vocal supporter of both Biden and Harris during a time when former President Trump was making inroads in typically Democratic Silicon Valley.

But Silicon Valley is no fan of Khan, as big tech companies are often targets of FTC investigations.

Hoffman is not the only one calling for Khan’s removal: Barry Diller, chairman of IAC, a donor to Biden and the Democratic Party, said on Friday he also plans to lobby Harris to replace him as FTC chair.

“I think she’s amazing,” Diller said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”
