Lionel Messi grabbed NYCFC coach’s neck from behind in stunning scene

InterMiami boss Javier Mascherano created a “circus” around an incident involving Lionel Messi, a FC assistant and referee in New York City, to hold a 2-2 regular season on Saturday. That's why I pointed out the media.

An MLS spokesperson declined to comment on the post. A New York City FC official also declined to comment on the incident.

The MLS rules seem to indicate that the Disciplinary Committee can consider Messi's case with the judge, but contact with Ballouchy is a little more vague.

League Competition Guidelines The Disciplinary Committee states that “minimum fines” should be excluded if an individual is “seek” to incite or escalate an individual incident by contacting the other person's face, head and/or neck. MLS guidelines state that “at the sole and absolute discretion of the League Office, any major fines and/or suspensions will be collected against players, coaches or other team personnel for behaviour that is harmful to the League.” He says that.

In Saturday's season opener, the NYCFC let the team get a 2-1 lead in suspension, and Messi supported Terrasco Segovia's equal goal.
