Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown reveals playing through unreported injury in Netflix docuseries

No one questions how tough football players are, but some do question the legitimacy of what teams do or don’t put on their injury reports the day before a game.

In the first episode of the Netflix documentary series “Receiver,” Detroit Lions star wide receiver Amon-Ra Saint-Brown revealed that he was battling an oblique injury before last season’s Week 4 game against the Green Bay Packers.

“After Atlanta we have a game on Thursday,” St. Brown said during the episode. Pro Football Talk. “So I can barely run. I mean, I’m running, but the pain is like an eight out of 10. Like eight or nine. So I’m like, ‘It’s too late to not play now. The game plan is set.’ I don’t want to take painkillers unless it’s against the Packers.”

St. Brown, 24, was injured in last week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. The University of Southern California product finished with nine catches for 102 yards in the Lions’ 20-6 win.

The problem with St. Brown’s statement is that the Lions did not list him on their official injury report prior to the game against the Packers.

The two-time Pro Bowl player also played in the game, catching five passes for 56 yards and a touchdown in the Lions’ win.

Although he was able to play through an oblique injury against the Packers, St. Brown missed his only game of the season the following week against the Carolina Panthers.
