Lions' Dan Campbell criticizes 'false' report on Aidan Hutchinson's hits

Adam Schefter recently mentioned that the Detroit Lions had reached out to the league to express concerns about player Aidan Hutchinson’s treatment on the field. However, head coach Dan Campbell refuted claims about this, labeling the report as “fake.”

This is Hutchinson’s first season back after a significant injury involving both his tibia and fibula. According to Schefter, the Lions’ communication with the league office centered around concerns regarding how opponents were targeting Hutchinson’s lower body.

In response to the claims, Campbell expressed his frustration, stating, “That’s bullshit. That’s a false report.” He insisted that no one within the organization would engage in such actions and criticized the report as “terrible.”

Schefter’s comments aired on ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown,” just before the Lions scored a win against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3.

“He’s coming back from a broken tibia and fibula,” Schefter noted. “Watching his performance in the first two games really showed that opponents seem to be targeting him low, enough that the Lions felt it necessary to take action with the league.” He also pointed out specific instances during past games, emphasizing that similar tactics were used against Hutchinson by other teams, leading the Lions to request that the league monitor these incidents.

With a strong season beginning, Hutchinson has made a notable impact, with impressive stats including 12 tackles, five sacks, and three forced fumbles so far. Last season, before his injury, he had collected 7.5 sacks in just five games. The Lions are looking to keep this momentum going as they prepare to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday evening.
