Lions’ Dan Campbell to sell $4.5 million home due to security concerns: ‘People figured out where we lived’

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is selling his suburban Detroit home to protect his privacy.

Campbell and his wife, Holly, put their 7,800-square-foot home in Bloomfield on the market this week for $4.5 million.

“There's plenty of space. It's two acres. The house is beautiful,” Dan Campbell told Crain's Detroit Business.. “It's just that when we lost, people realized where we lived.”

Crain's reported that the sale of the home was completed within 24 hours.

Ashley Crane, who is representing Campbell and the buyer, said the buyer was likely to be a “die-hard” Lions fan.

Campbell did not go into detail about what happened when his residence was found, but Bloomfield Township police said “harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.”

“We ask that everyone, including fans, respect the privacy of the individual and his family,” police added.

The house was originally built in 2013 for Igor Larionov, a former Detroit Red Wings player and Hockey Hall of Famer.

The Lions hired Campbell in 2021 to help rebuild a team that went 5-11 last season.

New general manager Brad Holmes traded franchise icon Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams, acquiring quarterback Jared Goff in that deal.

Campbell's first year in Detroit was tough, with the team going 3 wins, 12 losses and 1 tie, but there was improvement in the second half of the year.

In Campbell's second season, the Lions finished with a 9-8 record and narrowly missed the playoffs despite a strong final stretch.

The Lions built on their success late in the 2023 season by going 12-5 and coming one win away from a Super Bowl win before losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.

The Lions started the season 1-1, beating the Rams at home in the season opener, but then lost 20-16 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2 despite a stellar performance from defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who recorded five sacks.

The Lions will look to improve to 2-1 when they travel west to take on the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday as their head coach prepares to move into their new home.
