Little League Bat with Memorable Moment to Be Auctioned

Moments from Little League that captured the nation’s attention will soon have a piece of memorabilia attached to them. The bats involved in these events are slated for auction.

In July, 12-year-old Marco Rocco from Haddonfield, New Jersey, lifted his bat high in celebration after hitting a home run during the state’s Little League tournament. This act sparked a legal conflict when he was ejected from the game.

His family took legal action against Little League International, and a judge in New Jersey ruled in favor of Rocco, permitting him to participate in the opening game of Haddonfield’s double elimination tournament.

Support poured in for Marco, including words from Yankees star Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer, who expressed, “we’re in camp, we’ll let the kids play.”

This community backing inspired the family to create commemorative pins reflecting the moment. Friends and ex-major league players Jeff and Todd Frazier suggested the idea. Joe Rocco shared, “They told me this is a very hot pin and if I were to create it, people would want to have the pin.”

Trading pins are a significant aspect of the experience for those at the Little League World Series. The design Joe came up with features his son’s No. 10 jersey and a depiction of Marco in his bat-flipping moment, with his last name showcased on his back.

The pin also highlights “Batflip 2025” and “Haddonfield” along its edges. Just 75 will be made available, and they won’t be sold.

“We all agreed on the designs and pins we were about to release,” Joe commented. “We wanted to limit it to make sure it’s an unusual pin at the event; so we’ll do it together and see how popular it is.”

Meanwhile, the very bat Marco used is set to be auctioned by Ken Goldin, who is also the founder of Goldin Auctions, known for his appearance on Netflix’s “Star King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch.” The auction will likely take place at the conclusion of the Little League World Series later this month.
