Cam Smith had one of the best rounds of the day at LIV Golf Adelaide on Saturday, posting a seven-under 65 with seven birdies and 11 pars.
Combined with his 4-under 68 in the opening round, he is at 11 under with one round left, four strokes behind leader Brandan Steele.
“It was a good day,” Smith said.
“What I’m actually doing is not that different from what I’ve been doing.” [Friday]. A few more putts went in. The par 5s played a little better. It was much more of the same. Yes, I feel really comfortable here. ”
Mr Smith should feel very comfortable walking around Adelaide’s Grange Golf Club. 100,000 Australian fans excited this week. The support he has received is second to none.
“I think having the kind of support we had this week is different than any other 51 weekends of the year,” Smith said.
“It’s a completely different feeling. I think the support is great, but there’s also a lot of pressure to perform. It’s not just me, but probably all the other Australians who want us to do well and win tomorrow. I think it’s going to put a lot of strain on my shoulders as it is, but yes, I’m ready. [Sunday]”
Smith is currently tied for fifth place with Patrick Reed, Dean Burmester and Cameron Tringale. Carlos Ortiz and Mito Pereia are one shot ahead of this group, but Danny Lee is one spot behind Steel at 13 under.
