LIV Golf broke records in Australia this weekend. The Saudi-backed league welcomed more than 94,000 fans to the venue over the three-day event.
Cam Smith’s Australian team, Ripper GC, won the first-ever team playoff against Stinger GC. High Flyers GC’s Brendan Steele won the individual title.
While his first year in Adelaide was a success, his second year seemed even bigger.
This trip Down Under provided a great atmosphere. The videos shown throughout the three days were eye-opening. The fans were loud and excited to be there.
Check out some of LIV Adelaide’s best scenes where the atmosphere was perfect.
One of the first videos released was a shot of Sam Horsfield’s tip-in. The fans were right there, hug and celebrate with him. At PGA Tour events, fans rarely get this close to players, much less congratulate them or physically touch them.
Another video that caught the attention of many followed Cam Smith captivating the crowd on the first day of the tournament. They were all shuffling down the fairway, trying to keep up with this native player.
LIV Golf was also featured on TV.He was watched by 936,000 people on Australia’s Channel 7 Audience Round 1 will take place on Friday, according to TV Tonight ratings.
However, the LIV Golf app and other streaming options are not included in this number, so it is unclear how many people watched the entire event.
These numbers show that Australians love golf. The PGA Tour will need to consider Australia for future cancellations, as Australia has indicated for the second year in a row that it intends to participate regardless of affiliation if the tournament is held.
