LIV Golf botches name of new star Jon Rahm in graphic

Mistakes happen from time to time, and for LIV Golf’s graphics team, that was the case on Wednesday, when an image was posted with star Jon Rahm’s name misspelled.

Rahm, 29, was one of LIV Golf’s biggest offseason additions when the rival golf league signed the reigning Masters champion off the PGA Tour in December.

But that didn’t prevent the golf league from making a small but significant mistake in spelling his name when announcing teams for the upcoming LIV golf season.

In the image, which was posted and quickly deleted, Rahm’s first name is not spelled correctly, but as “John,” without the H.

To make matters worse, LIV misspelled the team name in the press release.

“Not only did LIV News misspell Jon Rahm’s team name in yesterday’s press release, they also misspelled his name in today’s full season roster graphic release! There’s no making up,” @flushingitgolf wrote in the graphic. I wrote this on X.

An image with the correct spelling of Rahm’s name was posted on the league’s social media channels Wednesday morning after the error was noticed.

Rahm made the surprising decision to leave the PGA Tour late last year for a major contract with a rival league.

It was reported at the time that the deal could be worth $600 million.

“This decision was what I thought was best for me for a number of reasons,” Rahm said in a conference call following the transfer. “Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great deal. I had a really great offer in front of me, so I took it.

“They put me in a position where I had to think about it, and I did.”

Rahm becomes the captain of his own team named Region XIII.

LIV Golf’s first event is scheduled to begin Friday in Mexico.
