President Biden is scheduled to deliver a prime-time farewell speech from the Oval Office on Wednesday in the final days of his presidency.
This will be one of Biden's final speeches at the end of his term, and was preceded by Biden's announcement from the White House that a cease-fire agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas to end the war in Gaza. It follows the statement.
It was a major diplomatic victory for Biden in a conflict that has defined the final year of his presidency.
The Oval Office speech caps a busy day in Washington, where some of President-elect Trump's Cabinet nominees continue to clash with Democrats in confirmation hearings on Capitol Hill.
Six people were announced early Wednesday, including Pam Bondi, whom President Trump has nominated to be the next attorney general, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida), who the president-elect has nominated to be secretary of state, and John Ratcliffe, the president-elect's nominee for secretary. Nominations were submitted to the Senate.
