Michael Tyler, communications director for the Harris-Waltz campaign, said Monday on MSNBC's “The Jose Diaz-Balart Report” that Vice President Kamala Harris wants the candidates' microphones not to be turned off at any point during the ABC News presidential debate.
Tyler said, “I think her position is the same as Donald Trump's, because in the same exchange, Trump said he doesn't care. It doesn't matter to him if the mic is hot or not, and frankly, he prefers it hot. So as long as Donald Trump doesn't let his entourage ignore his opinion, I think this issue will be resolved. Both candidates will have an in-depth debate with live mics and both candidates will lay out their vision for what they want to do with this country.”
He added: “Donald Trump himself said today that he would be OK with live microphones being used during the debate.”
Tyler added, “That's absolutely what we want, that this campaign has to have live microphones so the American people can see both candidates as people and hear every word that comes out of their mouths.”
