Live updates: GOP rides Trump-Vance enthusiasm into RNC's Day 2

The Republican Party is entering the second day of its national convention in Milwaukee riding a wave of enthusiasm, with former President Trump selecting Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio as his vice presidential candidate on the opening day and Trump attending the convention just two days after the assassination attempt.

The mood at the Republican National Convention was upbeat and confident, a stark contrast to when the party held its in-person convention eight years ago.

Tuesday’s agenda includes a last-minute appearance by former Trump rival Nikki Haley, who was added to the speaker schedule on Sunday, a week before the convention, where she announced her delegates and called for people to vote for Trump.

The event in Milwaukee begins at noon EDT. Watch here all day for live updates on speeches, impromptu conversations and more.
